CLUB PHILOSOPHY

Club owner, Troy Tanner (NCAA Champion player and coach, Olympic Gold Medalist player and coach – click here to see bio), has hand selected his coaching staff based on experience, attitude and organization. Tstreet views coaches as teachers as well as role models.  We are committed to positive coaching and ensure a low player to coach ratio.  Practices are modeled after Tanner’s extensive Olympic training background, and Tstreet players are taught proven as well as current movement patterns and systems. 

Tanner works closely with all Tstreet coaches and is regularly involved in Tstreet team practices and clinics. Under Tanner's direction, all coaches teach the same proven techniques. Team strategies and systems are consistent from age group to age group (except for our 12 & under teams where there is no specialization—all girls learn all positions – service reception, serving, setting, hitting, etc.).

Tstreet teams get together at least three times a week for practice and/or tournaments. All Tstreet practices take place in beautiful gymnasiums such as: JSerra High School, St. Margaret's High School, Soka University and St. Mary and All Angels in Aliso Viejo. All of these facilities have sprung wood floors, as opposed to concrete/sport courts. Sprung wood floors extend the life of athletes by alleviating aches, pains and injuries, especially in young developing bodies.

We are very excited to announce our NEW, PERMANENT FACILITY located on the corner of Bake and Muirlands in the spectrum district of Irvine. All volleyball courts will be equipped with state-of-the-art, sprung wood floors (click here for important literature on huge benefits of jumping on sprung wood vs sport court/concrete) in this one of a kind, 15,000 sq. ft. building. The Tstreet volleyball training center, scheduled to open for the '09/'10 club season, will also have a 1,400 sq. ft personal training center, comfortable parental viewing areas, and more. There's nothing like it in the club volleyball world!

Another component of Tstreet’s philosophy is sand training. Our regular outdoor practices help ball control, agility, balance and stamina with the added benefit of strengthening joints.  Beach volleyball develops well-rounded players and exposes Tstreet members to sand competition, which has become a scholarship offering NCAA (collegiate) women's sport.

The summer of '09 was a fantastic year for Tstreet players on the beaches of Southern Californina. Over 40 of our girls regularly competed in beach volleyball tournaments, and we tallied numerous doubles as well as 4-person victories!
