2017 Volleyball Festival National Championships

The 34th Annual Volleyball Festival National Championships took place from June 29 – July 2, and Tstreet sent 14 top teams to compete. It’s always a fun tournament where our girls show all they’ve learned throughout the season in 4 tough days of competition. The club finished with an overall record of 92-64, with 3 teams finishing in the top 10. 14-Ramon secured a 5th place finish, while 13-Colton won the 13s Division and 15-Bryan won the 15s Division!

Tstreet also won the Club Achievement award for the quality of all teams during the tournament!

We are so proud of all of our athletes!

12-Alicia finished the year strong at Festival, placing 13th out of 65 teams, going 7-3 and winning the Contender bracket! They started off the tournament with a 6-0 record before facing 2 tough teams in the undefeated championship bracket. These girls worked hard all year and proved it by winning their last match of the year 14-25, 25-20, 15-13. Congrats to these awesome young studs!

12-Brett battled hard for 4 straight days, and finished with a record of 6-5 and a 43rd place finish. These girls learned so much this year about the skills, the system and what its like to compete on the big stage. They had some big wins, securing a spot in the Competition bracket, where they won their semifinal match before taking on a tough Club One team. Way to go girls, were so proud of your awesome season!

13-Colton capped off an already successful season in the best possible way. They went undefeated through the first two pools, the winners bracket and pulled off a dramatic finals win to take home the Volleyball Festival 13s Championship! They dominated the first two days of pool play, with no opposing team scoring more than 18 points. On day 3, they played in the double elimination bracket and won 4 tough matches, going to 3 to get to the championship match. Not without some drama, they lost to Flash in 2 sets to force a 1  to 25 winner take all set and came out on top 25-15. These girls truly earned their gold medals!

13-Reanna had one of the tougher schedules of Festival, facing several teams that ended up in the championship bracket. No matter the opponent, they battled hard and came out with a 9-3 record and finished in 35th place out of 75 teams. Reanna and Megan’s team had to take on the eventual 2nd and 9th place teams on Championship Court on day 2, bumping them out of the top bracket. However, they turned it on and went 7-0 on days 3 and 4. Congrats on winning the Comeback bracket and capping off a great season!

13-Madi had such a great year. These girls worked together to climb the ranks of the SCVA, and finished Festival with a 5-6 record and a 38th place finish out of 75 teams. They too faced teams bound for the championship bracket, playing hard and just barely missing out. Half of their matches went to 3, including a big victory over Prime’s 1’s team. They had a tough draw in the Comeback bracket, and despite the result we couldn’t be more proud of this team. Way to battle!

13-Matt worked so hard this year and the girls on this team continually improved as individuals and as a team. Festival was their toughest tournament of the year, and included matchups against our own 13-Reanna and 13-Madi. Matt’s team went 2-9 and finished in 43rd place out of 75 teams. They made it to the Competition bracket on day 4, barely losing to A4’s 1’s team. Everyone on this team exceeded expectations and we truly hope to see everyone again next year!

14-Ramon had an amazing season. They were within reach of a medal in every tournament, always finishing in the top 10. Festival was no different, as they went 9-2, with a 5th place finish out of 119 teams. Ramon and Ryan’s team started off the tournament 8-0 before facing the eventual champions, who sent them to the 5th place match. With the power of the Maui hook, they battled and emerged victorious in a 3 set match vs Kulia from Hawaii. We are so proud of this great team for their successes all season long!

14-Megan capped off a great season with an 8-5 record, and a 67th place finish. They battled all 4 days, narrowly missing out on the championship bracket. On day 4, Megan’s squad crushed their semifinal match in the Commendation bracket before losing a heartbreaker 3 set match to Surfside’s 1’s team. The improvement all year long was so evident at Festival, and we look forward to seeing these athletes in the gym this summer!

14-Adam LB was one of our few Laguna teams who trained at St. Catherines in Laguna Beach. While we didn’t often see them in the Tstreet gym, they radiated the 3B’s and played hard for 4 days. Adam’s team had a tough schedule, facing teams ranked higher but always battling in each match. They finished 2-9 and 107th place. Keep working hard girls, you are on the right path!

15-Bryan proved that Tstreet’s 2’s teams are a force to be reckoned with, as they went undefeated and took home the Volleyball Festival 15’s Championship! They went 11-0, only dropping one set the entire tournament in the Championship match vs Apex. These girls stepped up big time, dominating teams and playing at a higher level than they had all year. We are so proud of their accomplishment and all that is in store for each member of this stellar team!

15-Sam kept the good vibes going at Festival, securing a 25th place finish out of 87 teams and finishing with a winning record of 7-5. They had to battle several 1’s teams and came up just a little short, sending them to the Conquest bracket. From there, Sam’s team went 3-0 with no team scoring more than 19 points. Awesome finish girls! We hope to see you all back next year for another great season.

15-Ramon was in full force at Festival, finishing with a winning record of 7-4 and securing a 69th place finish. Ramon may have been pulling double duty with both teams, but came into each match with energy and battle. After starting the tournament 2-4, they kicked it into high gear and finished 5-0, winning the Cinderella bracket. Not without some drama, each of the last 3 matches went to 3 sets! Congrats on winning your bracket and finishing the season on a high note!

16-Abby went through some changes this season, but it didn’t stop this team from putting in the hard work and finishing the season strong. New coach Abby Wahl, with her stylish vibe, guided the team to a 5-6 record and a 63rd out of 94th finish. They had a tough draw, taking on many 1’s and 2’s teams, but never gave up the battle. They finished off the tournament by winning the Citation bracket in 2. We commend you all for the work you put into the season!

16-Carl showed up at the Volleyball Festival ready to battle, and battle they did. Despite a tough draw, their team went 5-6, finishing in 77th place. After a tough day 1 facing teams all with a higher seed, they bounced back and went undefeated on day 2! They were hard earned victories, with 4 out of 5 going to 3 sets. Carl’s squad made it to the Commendation bracket where they were edged out by a tough Viper team. We’re proud of every member of this team and the effort this season!
